Its green and leafy character make Venlo the ideal place for recreational sport. Venloop is the annual highlight of the sports calendar - a running event of national and international allure. Venlo also has a professional, league football club: VVV-Venlo and top level hockey and handball clubs. Venlo certainly has the sporting touch! And wonderful parks and open spaces where you can breathe and relax in the shade of the mature trees. Ideal for a walk or a picnic.
Walking and cycling
The longer you stay in Venlo, the more surprised you will be by the green parks and open spaces in and around the city. The city is bordered on the north by the dunes of the Maasduinen National Park, and towards the border with Germany an expansive area of natural beauty larger than the Veluwe beckons visitors! The river Maas flows through the city and the peat bogs and heathlands of De Peel National Park start on its western side.

Picnic spot 1: In Tegelen near Château Holtmühle. Très chic!

Alles heej is VVV - the one and only VVV
Our club. VVV-Venlo is the only professional, league football club in North Limburg. The club was founded in 1903 and was one of the pioneers of paid, professional football in the Netherlands. The club won the KNVB cup in 1959.
